Ultrasonic Level Measurement
Ultrasonic dB Transducer Series
Non-contacting sensors for level, volume and flow – liquids and solids
Pulsar’s dB ultrasonic transducers offer reliable level, volume, open channel flow, pump control and differential measurement within liquid and solids applications. dB ultrasonic sensors utilise a low power transducer design with standard interconnecting cables – yet produce extremely high acoustic power to give exceptional results in a wide variety of challenging applications.
Features for all dB Series Transducers:-
- ATEX Zones 1 and 2 standard
- I.S. ATEX Zone 0 options
- FM/FMC approval
- Integral temperature compensation
- Narrow beam angles
- IP68/NEMA 6P
- Standard 2 or 3 core screened cable extensions to 1000m
- Patented DATEM (Digital Adaptive Tracking of Echo Movement) echo processing technique

Transducer Options Explained:-
PVDF face
A PVDF face is suitable for many applications where chemicals are present. Please consult Pulsar regarding your application needs.
Submergence Shield
A shield can be fitted during manufacture to keep the transducer face clean and dry in applications at risk of submergence. In this situation, the transducer continues to read a high level. When the level drops back below the shield, it allows the controller to resume operation with a clean transducer face.
Front Threaded Versions
Available in standard or PVDF options. Front threaded versions allow for easy mounting – either 1.5″ or 2″ BSP/NPT nose thread.
Flanged Transducers
Available in DIN or ANSI flange specification – all featuring full PTFE coating on the process wetted side. Various flange sizes are available. Maximum vessel pressure on flanges is 0.5bar (7psi). These incorporate the performance features of the standard products but additionally offer a front thread mount option to suit threaded nozzles or flanged tank entries. PTFE is a chemical resistant material – please consult Pulsar regarding your application needs.
Foam Face
A foam faced transducer provides more acoustic power output in dry and dusty environments. This higher acoustic power output increases return echo strength in these dry applications.
Sanitary Flange
A santiary flange option includes a full face PVDF seal for use in hygienic applications and 3″ sanitary flange which allow Tri-Clamp fittings to be used on tanks or vessels.
